What is the Krabi International Airport Like?

Krabi’s airport is quite modern and comfortable. You’ll enjoy the layout, it is not primitive like on the island of Kauai in Hawaii – if you’ve ever been there. This is a multi-million dollar airport facility that has all the conveniences you’d expect – hot coffee, snack stores, and paid parking.

Long-term parking with security is now available for vehicles and motorbikes. The rate is very reasonable and you’ll have a safe place to park your car while you travel.

Does the Airport have Any Restaurants or Stores?

Yes, they do. Particularly nice is a small group of good restaurants like Subway and a coffee shop on the top floor of Terminal 1 and the ground floor of Terminal 2. There is a small bookstore with English books in Terminal 1 that has some of the top fiction and guidebooks in print – yes, it’s expensive, but, when your options are few – you might just go ahead and buy one.

There is also currency exchange, and some ATMs to get local currency, and convenience stores for snacks and beverages.

What About Flights? To Where?

There are daily flights to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, in Malaysia as well as Chiang Mai when the tourists return after COVID-19. Prices to Bangkok vary quite a bit, but sometimes there are specials on Air Asia and you can get a flight for about 800 THB ($20 USD) each way.

Now that high season is here and COVID is not much of a concern, there are flights operating at higher than normal frequency.

Note – if you want to go from the south of Thailand to the north without transiting through Bangkok (BKK or DMK) airports, you can go to Phuket and fly direct to Udon Thani or Chiang Mai.
