Krabi Province has a number of amazing beaches. Here are the ones I recommend you try…
- Ao Nang Beach, Krabi
- Koh Lanta Island – this island is just south of Krabi’s center districts and down around Koh Jum Island. It takes about 90 minutes to reach the island from the highway and then a short ferry ride from the mainland across to the island. Ko Lanta has been known in the past for its relative seclusion and freely available drugs. It was a backpacker’s haven before COVID hit.
- Railay Beach, Krabi and Photo Tour of Railay
- Noppharat Thara Beach – this is the Thai locals beach, and for good reason – it has none of the commercial activities taking place on Ao Nang Beach and it’s just an excellent place for a picnic and to watch the waves. At the far north end of the beach is a park where there are some excellent places to eat and great sand for kids to play in. During low tide you can walk out to and explore the small islands that are 100 meters off-shore. One of our all-time favorite places not only in Thailand – but, in the world.
- Koh Phi Phi (island) – there are a number of great beaches on the islands of Phi Phi off the coast of, but part of Krabi province. It is a few hour trip to get to Krabi, but many consider it worth it. It has been built up quite a bit since the tsunami of 2004. There is a lot to do – but, a small place and overbuilt in many tourists opinions. Many tourists are skipping Phi Phi and just coming to mainland Krabi. It is slower paced, nearly as beautiful, and much less expensive.
- Tub Kaak Beach – this one is over near the Ngon Nak Trail in the Tub Kaak subdistrict. The beach has large rocks out away from the shore that add to the mystique. High end hotels like the Amari Vogue are here. A great place for a little privacy. Members of Thailand’s Royal Family sometimes visit here.
