There are a couple of Thai people in Krabi town who can help you find a taxi when you need it – even though there are no real yellow-cab taxis in Phuket town unless someone was visiting from another place – usually Bangkok, and booked one to drive the whole way down to Krabi (a 1,000 KM drive).
We typically have tuk-tuks in Ao Nang which can be taken just about anywhere, but their fees can vary widely. There are Song-lor trucks which do a specific route all day, and you can take them, but they are not on-call like an Uber driver would be.

Uber is bound to reach Krabi in the next few years, or a similar service will get here first. We do have a lot of tourists who would love the convenience of calling an Uber-type service to instantly meet up and take them where they need to go.
