Krabi Food Options Near Me

Living in Krabi for nearly twenty years has given us unique insight about what delicious food options are available and where the food near me is, here in Krabi and Thailand in general.

This page will give you the food options in Krabi you can choose from!

Is There Food Near Me?

Yes! There is always food near you in Krabi and all over Thailand. Probably the closest option most people have away from restaurants and grocery stores is 7-11 and Family Mart.

But, Krabi has an outstanding selection of fine Thai food restaurants and foreign-owned restaurants like Italian, German, French, and Indian.

7-11 Convenience Stores

The 7-11 stores were originally named that because they were open from 7 am. to 11 pm. daily. Today, all of the 7-11 stores are open 24-7, meaning 24 hours a day and 7 days per week. When looking for food near me, we always consider whether 7-11 might have what we need and can quickly go get.

They have pre-made and packaged sandwiches and rice dishes with meat and eggs on top. They have a small variety, but some people just love it. Staff will heat your food up for you in the microwave before you leave the store!

Of course, they have a large selection of snacks at 7-11 – chips, cookies, chocolate, candy, sugar drinks, sodas, beer, and even hard alcohol like whiskey is on sale right behind the counter.

Family Mart is the same basic thing as 7-11 and they carry slightly different things to eat. Worth checking out to see if there are things there you cannot find in 7-11.

Krabi Food Courts

There are a few food courts where you can eat cheap food with some variety like som tam with rice, fried rice with chicken (kow padt gai), rice with chicken (kow men gai), Thai noodles (pad Thai), and other simple Thai dishes that most people eat at least on a weekly basis.

Lotus’s (Tesco Lotus) – Tesco changed their name to Lotus’s when bought out and Krabi has a large one on Highway 4 leading to the Airport from Krabi Town. There is a large (and the best) food court in Krabi at this shopping center. The food court is found in the ground level on the east side of the building (side closest to airport).

Big C – A smaller food court with less food options (and not as good tasting) is located in the ground floor level of the Big C shopping center – just before Lotus’s on the way to the Krabi International Airport (KBV).

Food Trucks

We have seen some food trucks in Ao Nang, Krabi in the past, but to be honest, not many Thais serve food from a truck like you might find in huge numbers in a place like Oahu, Hawaii. Thais tend to sell from street stalls – just semi-mobile platforms where they can cook all their food and sell it quickly and without fanfare.

Some food trucks sell fresh vegetables, meat, and seafood – so they are worth checking out. These are not going to be cooked meals, but if you want to prepare something yourself, these food trucks can be a nice find and packed with good raw food.

One food truck in Krabi Town sells Som Tam and it’s amazing. It’s always super-spicy. The woman owner is from Ubon Ratchathani in the northeast. We’ve eaten there for 18 years. You will love it if you love authentic spicy Isaan som tam. Here’s the location. Blow that up in Maps and see the food truck across the street – she moved there now!

Thai Street Food

Thailand is known for its street food, and Krabi is no different. You can find street food stalls set up in some of the oddest places like random street corners, and some of them disappear in the daytime. Most street food stalls offer food at lunch and dinner. Few are open for breakfast, but you will find some.

A street food place has one or two carts where they make the food and some cheap plastic chairs around cheap metal, wood, or plastic tables. It’s low-frills and that means (or should mean) low prices. Most of these places sell Pork or Chicken Noodle Soup (gwit diao moo or gai).

A bowl today should cost less than 70 THB even in the heart of Ao Nang Beach. In town, you can buy soup for around 50 THB per bowl.

Junk Food

Everyone has their own idea of what junk food is, but here’s our list. You can find these places in Krabi Town center and in Ao Nang along Beach Road and up the road leading back to Krabi Town.

McDonald’s – There are 2 McDonald’s in Ao Nang Beach and none in Krabi Town. Neither has drive through service, you must walk in to get your ‘food’.

Kentucky Fried Chicken – KFC is found in Lotus’s, Big C, Krabi Town at Vogue Mall in the city center, and at a gas station on Highway 4 where it has a drive-through window which is convenient, but super slow. You can also find KFC in Ao Nang Beach and they have their own delivery motorbikes to reach you most anywhere you are in Krabi.

Indian Food Near Me

If you’re staying in Ao Nang and you are looking for a place to eat online or just walking the streets, you might think there are more Indian restaurants than there are Thai. Indian restaurants are everywhere in Ao Nang and there is only one in Krabi Town ().

We have eaten at some amazing Indian restaurants at the beach, and some not so good. Personally, we don’t like pizza made by Indians – we’ve tried it numerous times and it is always lacking. We don’t order Thai food at an Indian restaurant either – it just makes no sense. Order Thai from Thais. Italian from Italian. You are just so much less likely to be disappointed.

Pizza and Italian Food

This year there have been even more Italian food and pizza restaurants opening up in Krabi Town and at Ao Nang Beach. Of course our favorite is Bistro Monaco’s, but the two new pizza restaurants to open in town are also exceptional – Marni’s and Pizzeria Napoli.

Ao Nang is literally full of pizza places by Italians and even Indians making their own pizza style. Standouts include Italian Restaurants (by Italians): Caesar’s, Bouganville, and Umberto’s Cuisine.

Chinese Food

Chinese food in Krabi, Thailand.

There will be Chinese food near you in Krabi no matter where you are. Many of the staple dishes that Thais eat come from the Chinese. Gwit Diao chicken noodle soup is one example. Kow Men Gai – rice with chicken is another. Breakfast meals have really been influenced by Chinese food and though simple, they are fantastic and you can eat these dishes every day without getting tired of them. We do!

Korean Food

There is ALWAYS Korean food near me in Krabi. Think “Korean BBQ”. These are large buffet-style restaurants with open seating areas where they bring a hot pot grill to your table (or 2) and you put food on them to cook as you talk with your dinner guests.

These restaurants are too numerous to list. There are 2 basic kinds.

1. The cheapest place with a less-than-optimal food selection. That means they skimp on the good seafood and meat selection and give you whatever they can get for the cheapest they can get it. Cost for 1 adult is usually about 199 in Krabi Town and could be 299 or more at the beach.

2. Level Up. There is a higher priced tier of Korean Barbecue that includes great selection and decent cuts of meat. These buffets are high end and usually cost around 499 THB or more per person. If they are really good, you’ll pay around 800 THB per person in Krabi Town. Not sure at the beach, the prices vary wildly and I am sure they get more expensive than that.

Food Panda, Grab Food, Bolt Food

You can use the mobile app for these delivery services and order food from many different Thai food shops near you and far from you. The problem in going straight to these apps for delivery is that they never have every restaurant and street food stall available so you have to choose from a much smaller selection than actually exists. But, you get it delivered! Many restaurants now don’t have their own delivery service, so Food Panda and Grab are the usual services people use.

Halal Food Near Me

Halal food in Krabi is easy to find because the majority of the population in our province is Muslim and eat according to Halal rules.

Interestingly, there are more halal-friendly restaurants and street food stalls that mention serving Halal in Krabi Town than in Ao Nang. This might be because a lot of really small shops don’t even apply for a listing on Google.

Shopee Food

Just like on Amazon, you can order Thai and other food online using your phone or computer to choose shopping bags of things that will be mailed to your rental home, Airbnb, or wherever you stay if you alert the owners that it is coming. This is great for long-term vacationers in Krabi who want to save some money and access foods and products they won’t find in our area.

Vegetarian Food

We know of just 2 vegetarian restaurants in Krabi Town with the English word Vegetarian in the title. But, there are dozens of restaurants who claim to cook vegetarian food. Please don’t expect them to have real vegetarian processes, they just cook your food in the same pans they cook the meat, poultry, and seafood in. But, they can cook according to whatever vegetarian style you identify with. If you want to search in Thai, search for “อาหารมังสวิรัติ”.

Does Krabi Have Mexican Lopzassiccos Food?

This is a Mexican-style food and unfortunately, one thing that Krabi is really missing is an amazing Mexican restaurant! I didn’t say we don’t have any Mexican, there is one in Ao Nang Beach, but I don’t see Lopzassiccos mentioned in any listing. Doesn’t mean nobody has it, just that nobody is advertising they have it.

The couple of top-rated Mexican places are in Ao Nang Beach. Tiki Taco, Manana Mexican, and Nui’s Tex Mex are all rated pretty highly. We have eaten a couple of times at one of these (we won’t name it) and it was really not great at all. It looks like Manana Mexican is a safe bet though with the ratings, have a meal and let us know!
