A fire show typically consists of some fireworks and people who dance around with fire and make interesting patterns to music – often the beat of a drum. If you haven’t seen a Fire Show in Krabi, there are plenty of places you can watch one. Keep in mind, the fire dancing shows are not put on during the low-season all that often. It’s better with an entire beach full of onlookers!
Ao Nang Beach Fire Dancing Shows
Ao Nang Beach in Krabi is known for its vibrant nightlife, and one of the most popular attractions at night is the fire shows on the beach. These fire shows are typically performed at various beach bars and restaurants right along the shore. The shows feature skilled performers who entertain the Ao Nang crowd with impressive fire juggling, spinning, and dancing acts.
Though you can find a spontaneous fire show just about anywhere along the beach, even up in Neua Khlong, the best places to catch a fire dancing show in Ao Nang Beach tend to be these three bars/restaurants.
- The Last Fisherman Bar. Located right on Ao Nang Beach, this bar is famous for its relaxed atmosphere and stunning fire performances in the evening.
- Hippies Bar. Another great spot to sit around and watch people nearly set themselves on fire is Hippies Bar. They offer a more laid-back vibe with regular fire shows that draw a crowd.
- The Beach Seafood & Grill. This restaurant – part of Wang Sai – often hosts fire shows to entertain diners as they enjoy their meals with a view of the ocean.
The performances usually start around sunset and continue into the night, making for a great way to end a day in Krabi. If you want to make sure you catch one, it’s a good idea to check with the bars to make sure they’re on schedule for the night you want to go. Fire shows are often rained out, and performers sometimes don’t show up.
Railay Beach Fire Shows
Railay Beach in Krabi also hosts fire shows, giving you something more to do out there if you’ve already looked for the blue plankton and found little (see our tour here – a boat takes you out to find the plankton – it is usually very difficult to see at Railay with so many lights).
- Last Bar. Located at the far end of East Railay, Last Bar is well-known for its nightly fire shows in the high-season months. The bar has a laid-back atmosphere, and the performers put on a captivating display of fire spinning and juggling.
- Tew Lay Bar. Tew Lay can be found on East Railay Beach, Tew Lay Bar offers stunning views and a relaxed ambiance. They occasionally host fire shows, providing an entertaining experience for visitors. This spot is not as regular as some others.
- Skunk Bar. This bar on East Railay is another place where you can catch fire shows. It offers a casual setting with great views and impressive fire performances.
- Railay Beach Club. Located on West Railay, this spot also features fire shows as part of their evening entertainment.
Any of the fire shows are fun to go to. A great idea for kids, and though they can be dangerous, if you stay back from the action, you’ll be fine. There’s something magical and exciting about the atmosphere on the beach when a fire show is going down. As with other locations, it’s a good idea to check the schedules to see what events might be planned for the after-dark hours.
Ko Phi Phi Fire Shows
Koh Phi Phi Islands in Krabi are famous for their lively nightlife, which includes spectacular fire shows. These shows are a significant part of the island’s entertainment scene and are popular among tourists. Here are some places where you can typically find fire shows on Koh Phi Phi.
- Slinky’s Bar. Located on Loh Dalum Bay, Slinky’s is one of the most popular spots for fire shows. The bar offers nightly performances that include fire spinning, juggling, and even acrobatics.
- Ibiza Beach Club. Another well-known venue on Loh Dalum Bay, Ibiza Beach Club hosts impressive fire shows that attract large crowds. The shows here often feature a mix of fire performances and dance music, creating a vibrant party atmosphere.
- Apache Beach Bar. Also on Loh Dalum Bay, Apache Beach Bar is known for its energetic fire shows. The performers here are skilled and put on an exciting display of fire tricks and stunts.
- Carlito’s Beach Bar: You can find this one on Tonsai Bay, Carlito’s offers a more relaxed setting but still features engaging fire shows. It’s a great place to enjoy a drink while watching the performers.
Fire shows can be very similar between locations. The ones at Phi Phi can be some of the best, as can the ones on Ao Nang Beach. Keep in mind that some of the performers do more than one show a night. There just aren’t dozens of fire-show presenters running around Krabi, believe it or not! At any rate, they are a highlight for many visitors, providing a thrilling and memorable experience on the islands.
Ko Lanta Fire Shows
Not to be left out, Koh Lanta in Southern Krabi Province is known for its lively beach bars, drugs, and occasional fire shows. While the island is more laid-back compared to some of the more famous party islands like Koh Phi Phi, you can still find exciting fire performances in certain areas. Below are some of the popular spots for fire shows on Koh Lanta.
- Freedom Bar. Located on Relax Bay, Freedom Bar is famous for its chilled-out atmosphere and regular fire shows. The performances usually take place in the evening after the sun goes down, and are a great way to enjoy the sunset and the start of the night.
- Funky Fish. This bar on Long Beach (Phra Ae Beach) is another hotspot for fire shows. Funky Fish offers a relaxed beach vibe with impressive fire performances that draw in crowds.
- The Irish Embassy Pub. While primarily an Irish pub, this spot sometimes hosts fire shows and other live entertainment, especially during high season when they have a lot of patrons and want to liven up the night by a factor of 10.
- Majestic Bar. On Klong Khong Beach, Majestic Bar is known for its nightly fire shows and lively atmosphere. The performers here are skilled and put on a great display.
Ko Jum Fire Shows
Koh Jum, also known as Koh Pu, is a quieter and less developed island compared to places like Koh Phi Phi or Railay Beach. It is known for its tranquil atmosphere, beautiful beaches, and a more relaxed, laid-back vibe. While Koh Jum does have some bars and restaurants, it is not as well-known for its nightlife or fire shows. Though someone may feel inspired and grab a flaming stick from the beach camp fire and start throwing it around. You’ll know it’s time to head back to your hotel at that point!
Lately, fire shows are not a regular feature on Koh Jum like they are on the more touristy islands of Ko Phi Phi and Ko Lanta. The island caters more to those looking for peace and quiet rather than vibrant nightlife and entertainment. However, this could change, the island is growing in popularity and more people are choosing Krabi over Phuket for the main part of their vacation. Occasionally there might be special events or performances that include fire shows, especially during peak tourist seasons or around the holidays.
