 Krabi River Mangrove Birdwatching Tour Overview

Type of Tour – Private longtail boat trip through Krabi’s mangrove forest in Krabi Town
Start Time – 6:30 AM sharp (boat leaves the dock). Plan to arrive by 6:30 AM. If you need a later time, just let us know and we’ll adjust. Leaving at 7:00 AM is possible.

Travel Times in Car to Boat

• From Ao Nang Beach – about 30 min
• From Tub Kaak – about 40 min
• From Krabi Town – 5 min (you can often walk!)

 The Boat

• Traditional longtail boat with roof for sun/rain cover
• Life jackets for 6 adults + 6 children
• Max passengers – 5 to 6 people + guide

Children welcome! The river is calm with no big waves — quite safe.

 Your Tour Leader and Boat Captain

Your boat captain is a local Thai birdwatcher who’s spent his entire life on the Krabi River. He knows exactly where to find the birds and has led thousands of tours. He speaks a little English and can identify most of the sounds out there.

 If there’s a specific bird you want to see, show him a photo — he’ll do his best to find it.

 What You’ll See

Expect around 30 different bird species on the longer 3-hour trip.

Common sightings include kingfishers, herons, eagles, egrets, Pittas, Brahminy kites, bee-eaters, barbets, and more.

If you’re lucky, you might also spot a sleeping mangrove pit viper snake on the tree roots.

• Hat & rain poncho
• Sunscreen & mosquito spray (some mosquitoes at times, not bad while moving)
• Camera & binoculars (guide has 1-2 pair of binoculars to share)
• Water and snacks

The tour launches from Krabi Town on the Krabi River. The exact location changes daily. We will send you the precise location and the person to meet the day before your trip. Check WhatsApp the day before. All communication should be on WhatsApp mobile app.

• 2-hour Tour – 1 person 2400 THB. 2 persons 2900 THB. 3 persons 3400 THB. 4 persons 3800 THB. (up to 6 persons)
• 3-hour Tour – 1 person 3400 THB. 2 persons 3900 THB. 3 persons 4400 THB. 4 persons 4800 THB. (up to 6 persons)

That’s the total price per group.

4-hour trips MAY be possible. Just ask.

 Booking Info

1. Tell us your preferred date, number of passengers, and tour length (2 or 3 hours)
2. We’ll send a Stripe.com link for your deposit.
3. Stripe accepts debit/credit cards, Apple Pay, etc.
4. You can pay the balance due in cash to the boat captain at the event.

Deposits are fully refunded if the trip is canceled due to heavy rain or guide cancellation (rare).

 Best Time to Book

We recommend doing this tour on your first morning in Krabi. If rain cancels the trip, you’ll still have other mornings to reschedule. If the first morning it rains and is cancelled, and you cannot reschedule, your deposit is refunded.

 Getting There

You’ll need to meet the guide at one of the docks on the Krabi River in Krabi Town. We will tell you the exact location the DAY BEFORE your trip. Check WhatsApp for the location.

Estimated transport costs:

• Grab (Ao Nang → Krabi Town) – around 300–400 THB each way
