Krabi Herping for Snakes-Reptiles in Day and Night
This is a COMBINATION DAY and NIGHT Krabi herping adventure for people looking for snakes and other reptiles. The rains this year have slowed down a lot already in November and we are starting to see snakes and other reptiles earlier than usual.
Please Note – you must have a scooter or motorcycle for this herping tour. Some of it includes road cruising. You also need to go between different places and a car is not good in the traffic or for finding reptiles on the road.
Book early when you know when you’ll be here. The entire year is quite busy and some people are frustrated when they don’t book early and expect to reserve something when they arrive in Krabi. We often cannot fit people in.
Krabi Day/Night Herping Adventure
ACTIVITY: Reptile Herping (looking for reptiles and amphibians)
TRANSPORTATION: You must have a motorbike/scooter for this Herping Field Trip. This is the optimal way to get around the area which sometimes has a lot of traffic during the daylight hours. Motorbikes or scooters are also ideal for road cruising and easily jumping from one place to another to see more wildlife. This is IDEAL FOR ANYONE LOOKING FOR SNAKES ESPECIALLY.
SCHEDULE: Begins at 4:30 pm. and goes to 6 pm. in one of the local spots based on which reptiles you want to target for the herping field trip. Then we have a quick dinner around 6-6:30 at a local Thai food shop. Our night herping goes from 6:45 pm to 9:45 pm. Total around 4.5 hours of active herping.
REPTILES YOU CAN TARGET: There is a wide variety of reptiles you can target on your adventure. Have a look at this list and choose some that are very interesting for you. You can talk with the guide about what makes most sense to target on the trip.
- SNAKES – Wahl’s Bronzeback (D. cyanochloris), Keeled Rat Snake, Wolf Snakes, Leaf-litter Snakes, Mangrove Pit Viper, Malayan Pit Viper, Brown-spotted Pit Viper, Malayan Krait, Water Snakes like Puff-faced watersnake, Triangle Keelback, Other keelbacks, Reticulated Pythons, Flying Snakes (Chrysopelea), Whip Snakes, Other Bronzebacks, Mangrove Cat snake, Green Cat snake, Dog-toothed Cat snake, King Cobras, Bridle Snakes, etc. If there is any species you are interested in – let us know.
- Lizards, Skinks, Water Monitors, Frogs, Toads, etc.
RATE: For 1-2 people, the cost is just 4,900 Thai baht. Add 1,000 THB for each additional participant.
Please Note – Though we can “target” specific species, that doesn’t mean we find it every time or even 25% of the time. There are snakes like pythons, cobras, and kraits that are quite hard to find in one outing. It’s nature. We can’t control it. We have 18 years experience, but that doesn’t mean you will find exactly what you want.
