Thalen bay is a scenic bay that doesn’t have a lot to do – but there is kayaking and it does have beautiful scenery if you go on a sunny day. There is a small fishing community in Thalen Bay and there is not much of a tourism component to the area. Which might be what you’re looking for?
There are half-day kayak excursions out onto Thalen Bay where you can get close to the caves and even go up under the limestone. It’s a unique experience. If you want to go inshore fishing, there is a day-trip going there!
Directions: Thalen Bay is located north and west of Ao Nang and Ao Noppharat Thara beaches which you may be more familiar with. If you have a vehicle (motorbike or other) you can find it by taking Highway 4202 northeast to where it connects with Highway 4034 going northwest. Make a left at Ban Khao Klom village and toward the signs for Ao Thalen. You can also reach it by going to Tha Pom Nature trail and then following the road south toward Ao Thalen. There are signs.
