Krabi Road Cruising for Snakes (Herping for Reptiles)
Sometimes riding on Krabi’s remote country roads alongside rainforest, palm plantation, and other vegetation can lead to finding more snakes than other kinds of herping. In Krabi during the daytime hours this is usually true. Just the other day we went down a remote road through plantations and we saw 2 snakes crossing the road within the span of 15 minutes. One was a Radiated Rat Snake. One was a Kukri Snake. Both of them are hard to find in our usual herping spots, so this adds another layer to our herping services in Krabi.

Krabi Road Cruising for Reptiles
- Morning or Evening
- Small motorbike (Scooter) is best. 125cc is perfect. Automatics are best – like Click, Mio, GT, Fino, Filano, etc.
- 2 hour road cruising options covering many roads through the countryside
Please Note – you must have a scooter or motorcycle for this herping trip. A car or truck will not work. You also need to go between different places and a car is not good in the traffic or for finding reptiles on the road.
Krabi Road Herping Details
ACTIVITY: Reptile Herping (looking for reptiles and amphibians)
TRANSPORTATION: You must have a motorbike/scooter for this Herping Field Trip. This is the optimal way to get around the area which sometimes has a lot of traffic during the daylight hours. Small motorbikes or scooters are ideal for road cruising and easily jumping from one place to another to see more wildlife. This is IDEAL FOR ANYONE LOOKING FOR SNAKES ESPECIALLY.
SCHEDULE: As you wish. Morning from 8 to 10 am is good. So is 3 pm to 6 pm.
REPTILES YOU CAN TARGET: When road cruising, you are targeting whatever is on the road. You can go in the morning or evening, each has a higher probability of seeing certain snake species. We’ll list some of the snakes we’ve found in previous road cruising trips.
- SNAKES – Wahl’s Bronzeback (D. cyanochloris) and other Bronzebacks, Keeled Rat Snake, Wolf Snakes, Leaf-litter Snakes, Mangrove Pit Viper (a boat tour), Malayan Pit Viper, Brown-spotted Pit Viper, Malayan Krait, Water Snakes like Puff-faced watersnake, Triangle Keelback, Other keelbacks, Reticulated Pythons, Flying Snakes (Chrysopelea), Whip Snakes, Mangrove Cat snake, Green Cat snake, Dog-toothed Cat snake, King Cobras, Bridle Snakes, etc. If there is any species you are interested in – let us know.
