Best Shopping in Krabi?
Probably by far. Right now our current favorites are Mother Marche and Makro. When we can, we drive up to Suratthani to their Central which looks to be still much better than this one, to shop at Tops where they have some international food choices we like.
If this local Krabi Central has Sizzler, B2S, an Apple (iStudio) shop, Starbucks, and a decent food court, we’ll be visiting often. At the moment the Starbucks we do have is all the way in Ao Nang at the beach. The iStudio is out by the airport at Lotus’. The B2S is non-existent, as is Sizzler Steak place.
Krabi has for the longest time been the largest area without a decent shopping experience. That will all change with the arrival of this new Central shopping mall.
Layout?
We’re not fans of the layout of the new Central. Looks like an outlet mall like on the way to Phuket Town or like our own small outlet mall on the way to Lotus’ on Highway 4. Why mess with the traditional two-story Central Mall layout like Phuket, Surat, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Bangkok, and everyone else has?
Filling a thousand residential units is really ambitious considering Krabi has a huge number of empty business and residential units at the moment with nobody moving here to fill them. To be honest, this could be the smartest move of a century as the rest of the world flees their home countries to move to Thailand. What better place to live than Krabi? We don’t know a better place. Soon the world will know this place, I’d bet.
Thailand’s First Sustainable Lifestyle Hub
Central Krabi isn’t just a mall, they say — it’s being billed as Thailand’s very first sustainable lifestyle hub. The idea is to mix shopping, living, and staying in one eco-friendly setup that’s meant to appeal to both locals and international visitors. Eventually the idea seems to be to bring foreigners from overseas to buy a condo in Krabi where they will live for a part of the year.
Big Money, Big Vision
This project is no small bet — they’ve sunk around 4.5 billion baht into it. With over 114 rai of space, Krabi is finally getting a mall that can actually compete with Suratthani or Phuket.
Green by Design
Expect solar panels spread across the rooftops, EV charging stations, and recycling systems running in the background. Central is really leaning into the “green future” branding here — something new for Krabi.
Zones with Soul
Instead of one big blocky building, the space is broken into themed zones like Krabi Bay, Beachwalk, and Andaman Market. Each part is designed to reflect the local vibe while still feeling modern and international.
Sneak Peek at Resort-Style Residences
They’re pairing the mall with high-end living at Baan Ninya Krabi, which will come with infinity pools, landscaped gardens, and a clubhouse feel. It’s being pitched as resort life you don’t have to leave.
Part of a Bigger Masterplan
Central Pattana is rolling out five of these massive mixed-use projects across the country, with Krabi being the first in the deep south. They clearly see Krabi as a big growth market for the future.
5 Projects
Central Northville (Nonthaburi)
This is set to become the largest mixed-use development in the heart of Nonthaburi, built on the former Central Rattanathibet site. It spans around 59 rai with 210,000 sqm of retail space, featuring a biophilic design loaded with pet-friendly, multi-generation, and community zones. Scheduled to open in Q2 2026.
Central Khonkaen Campus (Khon Kaen)
The second mixed-use project in Khon Kaen, dubbed “The New Dimension of Lifestyle”, sits strategically near educational and healthcare centers. It covers about 30 rai with 67,000 sqm of retail, and will include a condominium development plus the first GO! Hotel in the Northeast. Opening in Q2 2026.
Central Chiang Mai Airport (Chiang Mai)
On a 130-rai master plan, this project will have 173,000 sqm in gross building area. Highlights include the first flagship Muji store in Chiang Mai, a tripled indoor local market (Kad Luang), a “Hug Craft & Northern Village” zone, plus a convention hall, tourism hub, multi-gen spaces, and the North’s first Go Wholesale. Launch is slated for Q2 2026.
Central Phuket (Phuket)
Expanding on the success of Central Phuket, this mixed-use project adds a 3-billion-baht luxury zone of 20,000 sqm and includes the Floresta and Festival malls—bringing the total development to over 23 billion baht. The first phase opens in Q3 2026.
Central Krabi (Krabi)
The one you already know: opening in October 2025, valued at 4.5 billion baht, featuring retail, residences, and hotel with a sustainable-lifestyle concept.
Luxury Living: PHYLL Krabi
The PHYLL Krabi condos sit right across the road from the mall, marketed as upscale residential units tied directly into the lifestyle hub. It’s basically shop, eat, and live without leaving the block.
