What the Night Safari Virtual Tour app gives you
This app is a self guided version of our legendary Krabi Night Wildlife Walk. You follow the remote paved road through the middle of the jungle from 7 pm. to 9 pm. at night while the app uses GPS to trigger short audio stories, safety tips and wildlife hints in each zone of the rainforest.
People LOVE IT! They tell us they feel like kids again walking with flashlights through the dark and suddenly finding frogs, geckos, spiders and other strange little creatures everywhere. It is that feeling of backyard exploring turned up a level in the Thai rainforest.
- Audio triggers automatically when you enter each zone
- A short chime rings before each message so you are never surprised by sudden audio
- Tips on what to look for, how to find it, and how to be SAFE
- Clear guidance whenever you enter a trickier area or need extra caution

What this app is built from
The content in this virtual tour comes from eighteen years of running real night safaris in the Krabi rainforest. Every audio clip is recorded in the same zone you’re walking in. You get the same explanations we give guests during our in-person field trips where to shine your light where to look for specific animals how to walk around safely.
You also get spoken reminders about snakes, spiders and scorpions so you can enjoy the night without guessing what is safe and what is not.
Animals you might see
Nothing is guaranteed in real nature, but this trail has an impressive mix of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and strange little night creatures. The guided tour always can find 30+ interesting creatures.
Slow loris feeding in a tree across the road. Oriental Bay Owl clinging to a trunk just a few meters away. Flying foxes flying circles above fruit trees. Frogs calling from every puddle and pond after rain.

Already love herping and wildlife
If you are a serious herper or wildlife photographer you can use the app as a base map and still hunt for your own animals. On other days you can join our day and night herping by motorbike trips or road cruising snake runs if you want the live guided version.
Common questions
The path and environment are the same ones we use for our guided night safaris with an excellent safety record over eighteen years. The difference is that with the app you walk with your own group and follow the spoken instructions instead of a live guide. Different people prefer different options.
You can preload everything while on wifi. The app only needs GPS once you are on the trail. No need to stream anything while you walk. Mobile data will help you if there is an emergency – you can hit the Emergency Button and summon the taxi to you.
Light rain often makes frogs and other animals more active and can make the walk even better. Bring a raincoat or use the poncho we recommend and keep your phone in a simple waterproof pouch.
Yes. The app is perfect if you want a flexible self paced option. If you prefer a human expert right beside you all night you can still book our standard guided Night Wildlife Walk separately.
Clicking the Red EMERGENCY button sends us your location immediately so we can send the Taxi to you. Here’s what we see:
