WAIVER

Please read and fill out the section below. By signing you are agreeing to every condition stated here. The “Event” is the June 6-10, 2025 Thailand SnakeStalk Event. “Staff” includes Vern Lovic, Son Ratthanaburee and his family, Joob, Boom, and Book. “I” refers to you, the person signing this agreement.

1. I am over the age of 21, and I am participating voluntarily in the Event. I am physically and mentally healthy and I have no issues which staff should be aware of, other than mentioned in “Extra Information” below.

2. I understand I can stop at any time from participating in touching, getting close to, catching wildlife, and any and all other field herping activities.

3. I understand there are many venomous and deadly snakes found in Thailand. I understand that while looking for non-venomous snakes or other wildlife I may come within striking distance of a deadly venomous snake, and there is a chance I may be bitten.

4. I understand that a bite from a venomous snake may be fatal, in some cases, in less than ten (10) minutes. I know and accept all risks and hold all others unaccountable for the dangers associated in participating in the Event.

5. I understand that one complication of snakebite is anaphylactic shock, which may occur after a snake-bite by a venomous or “non-venomous” snake. This condition can severely complicate the already negative effects from a snakebite, and can quickly lead to death.

6. At times, field herping activities will be held far (up to 5 kilometers) from vehicles that can quickly transport you to a hospital. I understand that at any time I can choose to abstain from a particular snake hunting activity based on this fact.

7. Staff from ThailandSnakes.com will show you a number of places where snakes and other reptiles are usually found. I understand there is no guarantee I will see any reptiles at all during this Event and that nature may not reward us with a bountiful experience.

8. I understand Staff are not experts in venomous snakebite treatment. Staff are not doctors or medical professionals with extensive venomous snakebite experience, and cannot be held responsible in any way for your preliminary first-aid treatment if you become the victim of a snakebite. Though staff will assist in helping accident victims reach a local hospital as fast as possible, I understand they will not be responsible in any way, for treating my medical symptoms if I become the victim of a snakebite.

9. I understand that Staff recommend I do not tease, touch, grab, hold, kick, or pick up with snake tools (tongs or hook), or interact in any way with any venomous snake during this event, except observation from a safe distance.

10. I understand there may or may not be English speaking staff at the hospital where I am taken for treatment of snakebite. Communication may be slow, tedious, or even at times, erroneous.

11. I understand and accept that I will not be consuming alcohol or any illegal substance in Thailand within 8 hours of participating in any field trip during the Event. I understand I may be refused permission to join an event if staff decide it is in the best interest of the group.

12. I declare that I have no known life-threatening conditions which might be exacerbated by going into the forest to look for snakes.

13. I understand that temperature and humidity combine to make Thailand one of the hottest places in the world, and that I am fit and healthy enough to spend hours at a time walking in this environment. I will rest when necessary and not push myself too hard.

14. I will notify staff immediately if I have any dizziness, headache, stomach ache, nausea, cramps, or other pain, symptoms, or distress.

15. I agree to act in a safe, responsible, controlled manner. I will not act in any way that increases danger to anyone else. I understand I may be asked to refrain from taking part in some or all activities because my actions are deemed a risk to others.

16. If I experience any problem which is unacceptable to me, I will notify two Staff members immediately.

17. If I do not feel SAFE for ANY REASON, I will notify two Staff members immediately.

18. I understand that I may hear language expressed that is not acceptable to me. I understand I cannot control this, and some tolerance is necessary to accommodate all sorts of people in a group setting. I agree not to direct foul language at anyone during the Event. I understand that I may be asked to leave the Event if it is a severe problem.

19. There is a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in place during this event to protect the safety and well-being of all participants (and Staff). We will not allow anyone to harass, threaten, purposefully annoy, abuse, tease, or touch any other participant or Staff member for any reason. I understand I may be asked to leave Phanom Bencha Mountain Resort immediately if Staff decides it is in the best interest of the group.

20. I will not file a complaint with Thailand’s, or other international authorities (courts, police, etc.) against Staff. I am fully responsible for my experience during the Event, and I hold all Staff harmless for any accidents that may occur which cause me physical or psychological harm.

21. I agree to hold Mike Bailey and his staff harmless for any accidents or injury experienced while at his “Exotic Fishing Thailand” location in Phang Nga during our field trip.

21. I have no known allergies to medicine, snake venom, spider bites, bee or wasp stings, scorpion stings, centipede bites, other than those listed below. Be very thorough as you describe anything which may become a medical emergency during your stay at the Event. Use “Extra Information” section on page #4.

22. I understand that the Event fee covers event registration, accommodations, food, snacks, water, transportation, national park fees, instruction in snake handling and cautions, photography help, and a free welcome pack. Fee does not cover any medical care or medical transportation, or damage you cause through accident or intention during the Event.

I understand there are no stated or implied guarantees written, online, or verbal other than this agreement.

I agree to be responsible for all costs necessary for my own medical treatment due to any and all circumstances. I have the required funds and/or insurance coverage, and help can be reached at the emergency contact phone number I have listed below.
